FND – NC 11/14/2025: Breakfast

Yep, FND is happening, yep the website is back in action so you can see the who and what and leave a robust, detailed, creative, but not too creative, relevant, but not too relevant, comment that possibly includes what food item, drink, game, secret information you will bring.

FND 12/8/2017: Breakfast by the numbers

According to the internet — which is infallible — breakfast is composed of the following colors, in order*:
camel canterbury clay desert double dust fallow goldie lion piha sand triple wood brown boomerang cape cigar copper magma matai momentum oak old palliser palm sugar walnut fiery paarl pasifika smoke style tree wood orange chips fish sunkissed

So go hunt and gather. Any grocery worth their #cdd3ca (Sherwin Williams Sea Salt) will be able to fulfill a shopping list comprised of these specific color tags. Should be no problem. Better cookbooks have a color index; if yours don’t consider upgrades.

Have a great weekend!

*Say What?
1. Google image search “breakfast”
2. save the resulting page as an image (I used the Fireshot extension in Firefox)
3. crop out the text and whatnots
4. remove Obviously Not Food pixels (I used Gimp)
5. Upload the image to someones color analysis thingy (I used http://mkweb.bcgsc.ca/color-summarizer)
6. Scratch your head, laugh, more scratching
7. Profit!

FND 10/13/18 Breakfast from yonder

Breakfast happens all over the world, but if two breakfasts meet, will they recognize each other?  We need to find out, for science.  It’s important.

Smoked salmon, pickled stuff, & goat cheese; meet baked eggs with mushrooms and parmesan.  And our neighbor tortillas, rice, beans, and eggs with salsa.

Spin the globe, pick a recipe. Pretend it’s a breakfast.

We have lots of fruit, good numbers of eggs and enough goat cheese, parmesan and cheddar to destabilize international trade.

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend.

FND 07/29/2016: Breakfast

…what calls to you from the kitchen in the morning? What calls, “I’m delicious”  and “Definitely eat me”

Whatever it is, hopefully that’s a just waking dream a little glass of juice and some granola will dispel.  Or maybe the cat is messing with you cats like to do that.

Pancakes with nuts and/or berries, grits with and without le fromage, and watermelon will be on the table. If anything starts talking we’ll start spreading the jello*

FND Today 12/12/14 Comfort Breakfast Grilling

Time to make up for lost time in a big hurry with a late notice.
Ray has been away for ages and was briefly back and is away again and FND is TIRED OF WAITING so is re-launching with three themes in one.
That’s right, a 3-fer.
Comfort food: whatever makes you forget the holy heckfire that was November/December
Breakfast: You know, *breakfast*. It’s amazing.
Grilling: Because pancakes can only be improved by lighting them on fire. Although I was thinking more of apples and sausage and whatnot.
Enjoy the weekend! You earned it.

FND 7/11/14: Burritos

Nephew Harry says it’s time for tacos and burritos. Who are we to argue. The planning will be professional and extensive. You may wish to purchase the appropriate technical protective clothing.  There will be rice.  I repeat: rice.

We have already assembled an impressive photographic guide to assist with ingredient selection.  The guide is still being printed on hand-spun silk scrolls encased in platypus tail leather, but of course we also created an online version complete with load-balancing, geographic-zoned edge network delivery, and next generation face recognition.  Here you go: http://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=burrito

I know, right? So amazing.

Happy weekend! Stay cool if that’s your thing.

FND 06/06/14: Pancakes and eggses

Yes precious, we’ll cook a box without hinges, key or a lid.  Also super pancakes that are full of Health and Awesome. Oats y’all. Woot.

While we’re at it I bet bacon and other oddments will be cooked.  After this FND will be away for a week (who will host on the 13th?) and return severely jet-lagged on the 20th.

Have a fantabulous weekend!

FND 2/8/13: You say Fritata

I say cheesy grits.  Wait no, err… fruit salad.  Scrambled eggs!

No breakfast at FND since December?! What the heck is that about?
Ray is back from NC, schedules are being tamed; it’s time to ring in a weekend.

FND 12/21/12: Last FND EVER (this week)

A box without hinges, key, or lid,
yet golden treasure inside is hid.
–obligatory Hobbit riddle.

Also, pancakes, fruit, cheesy grits, ever-so-almost turkey bacon, and mimosas.
