FND 6/24: Comfortable food

The UK isn’t in Europe anymore, Senators are staging sit-ins, my family is on the other side of the marble, and cats are living with dogs. That last bit is really not surprising at all, but really the world is stressing me out.

Time for totally non-drastic measures.

Time for easy to eat, delicious, probably fried food.

I’m going to bake sweet potatoes, make some mac-n-cheese (from scratch, natch), salad because its good for me and ice cream sandwiches because they’re not.  Anything else that gets in my way gets fried.

Have a great weekend! End this week!

FND 06/17/16: Tostadas oh yeah

Taco, uh, Friday, yeah.  Tostada/taco towers, lettuce, uhm, lumps, cheese clumps, pepper piles, bean bags, I think this is stretched far enough – it’s not complicated.

Happy (hot) Friday!

FND 05/27/16: Bikey/Hikey/Rolly Eats

If you can eat it on a bike, on a hike, or just on the go it’s on the plate.  We’ll grill it, skewer it, make it into wee little sandwiches, put it into bowls and cups.

And eat the heck of it.

Ta!

FND 03/11: Never enough breakfast

FND is celebrating the rain with pancakes, omelets, grits and (turkey) bacon. Oh and maple syrup, fruit and yogurt.  Don’t waffle, start the weekend!

FND 2/12/2016: Pizza Pi

The FND Menu Scheduling and Food Ingredients Committee deliberated for hours, no minutes, no moments and reached a unanimous agreement to propose to the assembled participants (Sarge and Tabu) that today’s dinner be comprised of and/or derived from dough baked in a hot oven after being topped with such foods as sauce(s), cheese(s), and other comestibles to be determined by popular vote.  The assembly approved the proposal, or seemed somewhat interested, or wanted to play with the ball.

Happy weekend!

FND 1/22/16: build your own morsels

Maker fest time at FND. We’ll lay out various possible sandwich parts on a Sandwich bar so everyone can make their  own ultimate perfect deliciousness.

We’ve got a bunch of wee sub rolls and condiments, lots of greens, and some cheeses.  There’s a grilling thing too for hot stuff.

Happy Friday!

FND 1/8/16: Grilled [stuff] sandwiches and tomato soup

Grilled cheese, for example, or onions & kale, or nasturiums.  With homemade tomato soup.

BYO favorite [stuff] and/or bread and/or drink. We’ll have some of all of those too.

Happy El Nino Friday!

FND 9/11/15 Cold Comfort

This just in: Dogs Are Hot*.

Honest to goodness how can FND even think about food in this heat.  Here’s how: a whole ice cold crisp juicy sweet watermelon.   Almost frozen grapes. Popsicles — healthy ones, natch — and  anything else cold that can console us in this dry spell.  Just please please not cold sorrel soup.

Stay cool this weekend!

FND 01/30/15: PPPPPiiiiizzzzzaaaaa

That’s not a stutter, we’re cranking out pies from scratch.

We start with hand-crafted organic molecules, artisnally formed into polymers based on xylose and arabinose.  These are topped with lipids in an aqueous solution with polymers of amino acids, onto which we add photosynthetic pigment-protein complexes, and pepperoni.

We’ll craft vegetarian and non-gliadin/glutenin dining items as well.

Bring your chemistry sets or stop by a handy local laboratory and purchase additional toppings!

Also: Yay weekend!

FND 12/19: Texanukah. Hannukas. Big, Fried Wonder

The theme is Texan and it happens to fall in a holiday so the automatic theme-combo protocol is in effect. Also we like fried foods.

We’re guessing quesadillas and latkes — big ones — will be on the table, and who can really tell what else.   Chili? 48oz steak? Jackelope?

Have a great weekend and proceed to vacation if possible, y’all.
