3/21/14: Paleo – birthday extravaganza

In honor of Christina, who is leaving us for snowier, windier pastures in Chicago and Sam, who was born in Chicago just as Spring sprung, we are having the first ever FND Paleo extravaganza.  Now I have to go look up what that means…  back in a sec …

OK.  I’m back.  Here’s what I found out about Paleo(lithic) food.

YES:

Paleo includes fresh lean meats and fish, fruits, and vegetables, and healthier fats.  You can also eat eggs, nuts and seeds and healthier oils, including olive oil and coconut oil.  I think you can cook/grill things.

NO:

You can’t eat any processed foods. And since our ancestors were hunter-gatherers, not farmers, say goodbye to wheat and dairy, along with other grains and legumes (such as peanuts and beans). Other foods to avoid:  refined sugar, potatoes, salt, refined vegetable oils, such as canola.

Here’s a pretty picture of a paleo dinner party:

See ya soon!
Ray (who has already had an amazing week, so you just get on over here and try to top it off!), the cool as a cucumber celebrity Meem and the bday bestie Sam.

Just a note, I will not be at FND until a bit after 8 o’clock, because I have to be at the reception for the IB Art show (some of my work is in it). Anyone is welcome to drop by and see some art in the packing house at the forum/prison library project from 6-8. Bonus, I won’t be offended if you don’t.
