This may be a confusing theme, so let me give you the break-down:
- We have recently been visited by the Hatch chili fairy, so we’re going to be eating some green chilies.
- They come in the mild, medium, and hot varieties.
- Your job is to bring stuff that goes nicely with them. You can bring ingredients and cook something at the house, cook with chilies of your own, or bring something we can add roasted chilies to.
- If you don’t want to bother with all this decision making because ‘I mean come on, it’s Friday‘ then you can bring drinks to soothe our burning mouths or desserts to eat
as appetizersafter dinner. - There will probably be music.
- To follow with the burning theme, we might even get to have a fire outside and stuff. Plan appropriately.
I would like to mention here that if you don’t comment on the blog with who and what you are bringing, we might not let you in the door. We can’t just let in random people off the street, you know.
-Mimi who is sometimes sarcastic and snarky but who really does expect you to give a LITTLE effort and TELL HER YOU’RE COMING because if we didn’t need you to do that THERE WOULDN’T BE A BLOG. Really, the point is to let everyone know who and what is coming so that we don’t end up with forty loaves of bread and NO (root) BEER OR ICE CREAM.
For those of you who comment every week, thank you. It helps a lot. I’m working on getting little “I comment on the FND blog” badges for you.

We shall bring vegetables with ranch dressing as a dip. This way there will be a few less tongues in need of amputation.

I shall bring…
None of my family joins us.
We will bring those yummy tortillas from Sprouts and some queso fresca and cheddar. The chili fairy may also bring root beer. Yay for the “Hatch”!

Beef franks have been known to go well with veggies. I got the kosher ones.
I’m thinking of a Avocado and Potato Salad with Hatch Chile Vinaigrette or Apple-Jicama Salad With Hatch Chile Dressing.
I really hope Ray remembered to infuse the tequila.
I AM SO LAME. REMEMBERED AT LUNCH. FAIL.
Hello! So, Marisa is driving back with the kids from Pendleton this afternoon, and we won’t know the level of traffic burn-out until they arrive around 4:00 but we would love to join you if the travelers are not unravelling. We will bring cooling ice creams. Mint. Sorbet. That kind of stuff.
I have some Mezcal I could bring :). I’ll also bring my old stand-by: a tube of vegetarian meat. (I totally realize that both of these things might sound gross.)
I noticed a lot of Hatch recipes involve chicken. I will pick up a roasted chicken from Sprouts.
