FND 7/25/14: Breakfast with the Monts

Jacque, Matt, X and S are headed soon to AZ.  In solidarity, Mimi and I are driving East starting Sunday until we run out of land.

Come stuff your face and wish us well!

(never as funny but slightly less lazy than SaMimi).

The FND that isn’t: 7-4-14

No FND this week. Even FND takes a break now and again.

Have a restful day!

FND 6/27/14: Okinawa Soba and Sushi

Okinawa soba is a bit like ramen soup, but the noodles are thicker (not as thick as udon).

This description will intimidate you.  And make sushi sound easy.

Here’s another look.

So maybe you can bring things to roll into sushi or things you like that resemble noodle soupy goodness or rolled up ricey wonders.

Mochi for dessert?  Or anything made with purple yams.

For a drink, something citrus-like and lovely — see shikawasa soda.

Yup.  The challenge is on.

Ray Sam and Mimi returned from far far away and missing the food.

FND 6/20/2014: ピザ Pizzarigatogozaimasuwhat

I think we’re back from Okinawa.

I seem to be in my Claremont room, so yes.

Fun FND Facts #1: Pizza
  • Some people don’t know what to bring to pizza FND. Here’s what: bring your favorite topping, drink, or dessert. Now you know/have had the answer reinforced in your memory. Hurray! Neurons!
  • The first FND email I have about pizza was to celebrate my sister getting accepted to UNC Chapel Hill (4/28/2006).
  • It was not (by far) the first pizza FND, that’s just the first time I had an email address to get FND emails.
  • Pizza is a very long-standing FND tradition.
  • If you’re lucky and show up at the right time and the dough wasn’t pre-rolled when we got it, you get to see Sam throwing it in the air and spinning it around and catching it (almost always) (I think always).
  • Tomatoes are in the nightshade family, and in NC we had other sorts of nightshades in our yard.
  • We did not put those other nightshades on the pizza that would be stupid why would you think that.
  • Sam actually likes those grainy salty fish things to be imposed on his pizza, and unfortunately by association I don’t mind them.
  • Did you figure out that this is Mimi? How did you guess? Was it the length of the note? I do tend to write long ones. I have no way of forcing you to read it though, so really you  should just check the theme and skip the rest, if you’re in a hurry or whatever.
  • I put the actual information at the top, to make that easier.

See you soon!

If you decide to come. Otherwise, see you less soon!

-Mimi and mostly friendly voices in the walls

* Dinner starts around 6:30-ish

* Let us know who and what you are bringing  at http://fndeats.wordpress.com for self-organizational goodness.
* If you ever want us to remove you from this list or add a friend, just let us know.

FND 5/30/14: Pockets

Pie is a pocket.   An empanada is a pocket.  Dumplings are pockets.    Calzone, too!   We like pockets, how about you?

We have some dumplings to steam…

Bring on the pockets!

Meem and Ray  (Sam is feasting on pockets half a world away)

FND 5/16/14: Back in business with Za

Better late notice than never?   Join us for some rockin’ pizza tonight!  We have dough and sauce and cheese.  Bring your favorite toppings!

NO FND: 5/9/2014

We won’t be hosting FND this week, but that doesn’t mean you should skip dinner. I’m sure there’s some food lying around somewhere else waiting to be eaten, so you should be fine.
See you next time!
-Mimi who got left behind to take tests while everyone else parties in NC.
🙁

FND 5/2/14: South of the Border

Marisa called Mexican food, but you can branch out if you like.  I recently had some Honduran marinated meat that might have been the yummiest food of my year so far.   Let us know what you plan to bring by posting a comment on the blog.

Thanks!
Ray Sam Mimi and whatever Tapatio is left in the fridge…

FND 4/18/2014: Extremely Late Pasta

Hey it’s Mimi

I wasn’t going to write this but since no one else did here I am.

I believe the theme is pasta?
That’s probably correct.

Sorry this is ridiculously late.
-Mimi and other people who failed to write this sooner

FND 4/11/14: Pizza!

Ready for some serious pizza?  We’ll have dough and sauce.  Bring on the toppings, sides and dessert.   Let folks know what you are bringing so we don’t end up with dupliduplication.

Wow – this time of year can take the funny right out of a person.  So come on over and make us laugh!
