FND 8/21/09: Homemade Pizza-o-rama

Last week: Muchas personas! Food and s’mores until everyone was full enough to roll home. A lovely evening. Can I remember all the details through the foody haze? Maybe not … Good thing it is saved on the bloggy interweb.

This week: We’ll make the dough and sauce, you bring the cheese and toppings and drinks and dessert.

As always, please RSVP who and whatcha bringin’ at fndeats.wordpress.com

See ya soon,

Ray and Sam (But not Mimi who will have temporarily flown the coop to go to climbing camp. We’re gonna be missing her so come keep us company!)

8/14/2009: Summer fruit and veggie festival + nat’l smores day celebration

This week: We are celebrating the bounty of summer! Bring your favorite dishes inspired by what you can buy fresh (with bonus points for local). Then savor a roasted treat: it was national s’mores day on Tuesday and we have ALL the fixins.

Last week: Made loads of homemade fettuccine and gnocci and red sauce. Other folks made homemade chocolate ravioli. And pesto. And amazing salad. And lemon bars. And orange jello. FND food coma!

8/7/2009: All about Pasta

If you didn’t make it last week for appetizers and dessert, you missed
the most awesome of bruchetta. We still have garlic breath, but our
immune systems are dandy! There were also other treats including
shrimp and homemade cocktail sauce, cherries, edamame, several kinds
of cookies and an assortment of frozen delicacies.

This week is all about pasta. Some of it even homemade if Nancy and I get our acts together. So bring a favorite sauce, topping, side, veggie, dessert… Just make sure you post here so folks know what’s up.

7/31/09: Appetizers and Desserts

Hi Folks,

We are back in town and ready to end the week! It is the fifth friday, which is a bit like a blue moon. To celebrate we will have a yummy assortment of desserts. You bring the appetizers to get our tummies ready for them.

Some appetizer ideas: stuffed grape leaves, hummus and pita, cheese and crackers, olives, pickles, shrimp and dip, chips and guacamole, mini-sandwiches, little hot dogs, caviar and cream cheese on crackers, dumplings of any sort. So many lovely options.

As always, let us know who is coming and what you are bringing at
http://fndeats.wordpress.com/

That way we don’t end up with only pickles and ice cream!

Cheers,

Sam, Mimi and Ray

7/3/09: Breakfast

Hi Folks,

The veggie extravaganza was a great success — gotta do that again sometime.

This week we are having breakfast for dinner. We will wrangle some waffles and if you bring fillings, we can make omelets. I am always in favor of cherry pie for breakfast or really any kind of pastry. Fruit salad and mimosas sound refreshing too…

As always RSVP on the web with who and what you are bringing.

6/12: Sandwiches

Last week was souper duper. Really.

Anna brought cheese and Jeff brought bread and more cheese! Mimi made matzo ball soup! Talithia made miso soup! Stuart made gazpacho! Ray made garlic knots and challah and banana fritters! Sam made frozen yogurt!

Good eats were had by all. Some of the die-hard-anti-cold-soup-folks even thought the gazpacho was yummy. And in a convergence of awesome babyness, our youngest guests Josiah and Riley got to see each other!

This week we are going to make sandwiches. Bring your favorites sandwich fillers, spreads, and breads — but please don’t bring mustard because we have enough to sink several ships.

Drinks, sides and desserts also welcome.

As usual, please rsvp who and what here. Click on ‘comments’ and leave yours!

Cheers!

Sam, Ray and Mimi

6/5/2009: Summer Soups (Hot or Cold), Assorted Cheeses and Homemade Bread

If you missed last week, it was amaaazing to have just dessert.

Sam made mini homemade chocolate-dipped meringues in three flavors:  vanilla, chocolate and coffee.
AND Sam made homemade strawberry-lime frozen yogurt
AND Sam made homemade apple galletes
AND Sam made homemade sauces.
Deena and Art made yummy cookies
Allegra made amazing “quesadillas” with cream cheese and chocolate chips and cinnamon
Talithia and Don were going to make margaritas and we were all stuffed to the gills, so we took a rain check!

This week we are having summer soups, sordid cheeses and homemade bread.  Soup can be hot or cold…  If you ask Sam and Talithia, it should be hot!

5/22/09: Tacos

If you missed last week’s pizza-o-rama, you might not know that the national pizza of Germany is tuna fish pizza! It was pretty tasty, even though I was quite skeptical. Sam’s gourmet white pizza was a big hit and the other gazillion pizzas we made weren’t too shabby, either.

This week the theme is TACOS. If we get inspired, maybe we’ll even make some homemade tortillas for taquitos.

Please RSVP on this blog if you are planning to come, and post what you are bringing so other folks can see what is still needed. To make a comment click “comment” (or click “no comment” if you are the first to comment).

See ya soon,

Ray, Sam and Mimi

No FND: May 1, 2009

Hi Folks,

This week we are headed to a play in LA.  It is very unusual for us to
make plans on a Friday and this one slipped in long before we were
back in the FND groove.

Friday 5/8 is the Math Dept Party, but I suspect Sam will host FND
without the math contingent…  Library folks, it is up to you to hold
down the fort!

In case you missed it, last week we had:

Mango cranberry salad with fresh spinach
Veggies and dip
Homegrown spicy radishes
Garlic Bread
“Italian” corn salad (from Southwest Italy)
Gnocci and red sauce
Stuffed pasta shells with ricotta, mozzerella, parmesan and spinach
Strawberry shortcake
Tiramisu
Mango fantasy dessert
Biscotti
Wine, beer, fizzy water, tea and other lovely drinks.

Yum.  See you in a week or two.  Your FND folks.

Sam, Ray and Mimi
